Large, deciduous shrub or small tree has an upright, horizontal and spreading habit, becomes flat topped as it matures. Glossy green foliage turns deep red in fall. Bright red fruit in late summer preceded by clusters of white flowers, said to offer an unpleasant fragrance, blooming in late spring. Prefers full sun and is tolerant of drought once established.
