Small to medium ornamental tree, with a rapid growth for the first few years. Needs a moist, rich, well drained soil in full to partial sun. Small, clusters of dark brown floral buds enlarge to purple buds in early spring, blooming to pinky purple flowers, that last 2 to 3 weeks.
